Bringing Event Data On-Chain: Insights from Our Recent AMA

Aug 13, 2024

Last week, we hosted an AMA on X with Intel Ignite, the Solana Foundation, and Tweed, discussing the transformative potential of bringing event data on-chain. Our panel featured Alon Leibovich, Managing Director of Intel Ignite Tel Aviv, Josh Fried, Commerce BD and Partnerships Lead from the Solana Foundation, and Michelle Latzer, CEO of Tweed, who shared valuable insights into Tweed’s recent partnership with Solana, the current state of on-chain payments, and Tweed’s end to end infrastructure.

The Importance of Event Data Ownership

During the AMA, Alon highlighted the pain points of using third party websites and marketplaces for event ticketing. With frequent events and visitors, understanding and maintaining relationships with attendees is crucial. Having a centralized source of truth, like a CRM, helps track registrations and actual attendance. Alon stressed the significance of user-owned data rather than relying on third-party platforms, as data ownership empowers event organizers to connect more effectively with their audience.

Onchain Data: A Game-Changer in Online Marketing

Data is power, and many event organizers underestimate its value. Accessing, storing, and managing data in one decentralized place unlocks new possibilities for enriching data and engaging with consumers over the long term. It allows for creating attendance incentives, tokenized offers, and innovative marketing strategies.

Ticketing Onchain with a Seamless User Experience

Web3 applications - from gaming, e-commerce, to ticketing - can often present significant obstacles during onboarding and checkout processes. To build a successful consumer process, platforms should integrate Wallet-as-a-Service and fiat checkout experiences.

For event registration experiences, Tweed can create a Solana wallet for users behind the scenes with easy email-based authentication. Once registered, the user receives an NFT representing their ticket. Tweed covers gas fees so users don’t need to hold any crypto. At the event, attendees can scan a QR code or show a link code sent to their email. This automated process streamlines event management by bringing event registration for Intel Ignite in-house, and enhances data collection with a single source of truth for participation tracking, without requiring web3 know-how from users.

The Future of Data is On-Chain

Our partnership with Solana Foundation  highlights just one of the many solutions Tweed can offer to event organizers and companies interested in authentic and reliable event data. A significant advantage of on-chain data is that by storing information in a public CRM, users can easily target relevant attendees and reward them based on their event attendance, owned NFTs, or engagement history.

We had a fantastic time with Alon and Josh discussing on-chain solutions and their plans to implement these technologies. We look forward to continuing our work with industry leaders and optimize their payment and wallet infrastructure.
